Until 1998, Emil Fischer worked as an in-house counsel. From 1999 onward, a series of stints at major financial institutions followed, in a variety of positions (including managerial posts). After 2008, Emil worked for the law firm Horák & Chvosta and from April 2011 until May 2012 as an attorney (advokát) for the Prague office of White & Case.

Over the course of his career, Emil played a role in major reorganization projects for distressed assets in the portfolios of banks, and in the reorganization of businesses within insolvency proceedings. Since 2004, Emil is an insolvency trustee; he can pride himself in a number of successfully managed and completed insolvency procedures. Moreover, he has been acting as the liquidator for several firms. His experience and his competence make him a sought-after speaker; as such, he has on a number of occasions been on the panel of discussions on current topics concerning insolvency procedures.
